Are your classes very crowded?
Yes, classes at St. Marks Yoga are very full. Some off-peak class times will be less busy than others, but as a general rule, you can expect a full class when you arrive.

Why are your classes so full?
We are a very popular studio and many people come to us for class. We want to provide practice space to as many people as possible..

Do you provide mats?
Yes, mats are included in the price of class.
Do I need to sign up in advance?
We recommend signing up in advance, but it is not required. We will accept payment at the door in cash ($12) or Venmo ($13).
*Please note that some classes will fill to max capacity and we will not be able to accept drop-ins at the door.
I need to cancel my reservation. Will I get a credit for a different class?
Yes, you will receive an automatic credit balance on your account if you cancel at least one hour before class begins. Just log in to your account and go to your upcoming reservations. There you will see the option to cancel. Your credit balance can then be applied at checkout the next time you sign up for a class.
Can you hold my reservation if I'm late to class?
If we have room in our class we will accept late arrivals. But if our class is at max capacity with drop-in students, we cannot accommodate late arrivals.
What type of yoga do you offer?
Our classes stem from various styles of vinyasa. Each instructor comes from their own unique background and will incorporate styles and lessons learned from their experiences in vinyasa teaching. Some of the more specific lineages you will find include but are not limited to: Jivamukti, Katonah, and Dharma,
Are your classes suitable for beginners?
Yes, we welcome all levels to any class. You are at liberty to move at your own pace. But please note that our Basics class (Mon-Fri 6pm, Sat-Sun 10am and 3pm) are especially well-suited for beginners.
What should I bring to class?
Wear clothes that will feel comfortable for movement and sweating, i.e. shorts, t-shirts, leggins. Other than that we have all necessary props at the studio. You are welcome to bring your own mat, or you can use a studio mat. We have water filtration units at the studio to refill your reusable water bottle.
I forgot my water bottle at the studio. What should I do?
Please come get it ASAP. It will probably be in the exact same space you left it. We do not throw out forgotten water bottles and our water bottle collection is getting out of hand. Picking up your water bottle will help us immensely.
Do you have a place to change clothes?
Yes, we have a small restroom in each studio as well as full-length changing curtains.
Do you have showers?
No.
Do you have lockers?
We do not have lockers but we do have cubby shelves in each studio where your valuables can be within eyesight.
Do you have AC?
Studios 2R and 4F will use AC during the summer months. Studio 4R will not use AC.
How do I find your studio?
Our address is 12 St. Marks Place, between 2nd and 3rd Ave.
The nearest subway lines are the 6 to Astor Place, RW to 8th St./NYU, and L to 3rd Ave.
Can I use my cell phone during class?
NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT!
If you are a doula or medical professional who is on call, then yes, we will make an exception. We just ask that you take calls and texts in the hallway.
Otherwise, please use your phone for calls, texts, and photos before or after class, but NOT DURING CLASS.
